The Sacred First Two Weeks: 20 Secrets New Puppy Parents Don’t Know (But Should)   Download Now

A few months ago, we had one of our little pups all set to go to his forever home, when we hit a few bumps in the road, that caused me to feel uneasy with the situation at hand. I won’t go into those details, but suffice it to say that at that time, we recognized that this was not the right match for this puppy, and we decided to hang on to him, who was quite the precious little charmer. We decided to wait and see what developed for him and where spirit was telling us he should go. We knew he was such a special little guy, with lots of personality and spirit, and we wanted to make sure that his home was the one meant for him. I took him off our website and decided to see what was revealed. It was a big leap of faith for me, but we kept him with us for sixty extra days, and  then one fateful day….I received the confirmation of why this was guided.  His mom found us… and the story was an incredible one, to say the least.

Habibi bear puppies choose you, and we listen

In the pursuit of finding the best natural rearing resources for our program, we were introduced to a wonderful woman who was looking to bring home one of our Habibi Bear pups after losing her heart dog Max. She and Max, a large breed dog, had a soul connection, and when he crossed over the rainbow bridge she was devastated.

Max kept coming to her in dreams, telling her he would return. He had come back to her before, and this time he told her he might return in a smaller package. She said she knew he would be a surprise, and that there would be a very particular marking to help her recognize him.

She mentioned she was looking for a black and white puppy and had seen one on our site but couldn’t seem to find the video again. I had a couple of younger pups at the time, so I assumed it must have been one of our newborns. I showed her all the lovely black and white puppies we had, but none of them were Max.

She kept referring to a video she had seen, and it never dawned on me that it might be the very puppy I had just taken off the site. As we continued talking more in depth, I had an epiphany and suddenly remembered this sweet, dear pup. And of course—he was black and white. The marking? A rare bandit pattern.

Can you believe that as soon as we did a FaceTime video with the two of them, Hayes immediately turned and attuned to her voice? She recognized him as her Max right away. Hayes was smiling from ear to ear, tail wagging, visibly excited as his new mom exclaimed, “There you are, I found you!” As soon as she called him “Max,” Hayes cocked his head in familiar recognition.

we were astounded!  It was truly an unforgettable experience I will never forget.

Needless to say, many happy tears were shed.

Then the story became even more incredible. As we prepared for him to return to his mom, he suddenly developed a mysterious injury to his leg. It seemed to come out of nowhere. One veterinarian said it was a break and that he would need surgery, but we couldn’t fathom that, it just didn’t add up. He was walking on it and showing no signs of pain. We sought a second opinion, and thankfully, it turned out not to be a break at all, just a normal growth plate. He was going to be just fine.

Max’s mom then shared that her Max had injured that very same leg in the past. Wow.

When Max was finally reunited with his mama, she brought along a dear friend to meet Lisa, our Habibi Air flight nanny. Lisa told them she wasn’t sure why, but she kept calling Max “Little Man.” Her friend’s jaw dropped, because that’s exactly what they used to call Max before.

So many synchronicities surrounded this reunion. Everyone touched by the meeting felt something profound. Even those who were skeptical were left in awe.

A week after his arrival, Max’s mom wrote to me. She said her mulberries were ripening, just as they always did this time of year, and that Max had always loved mulberries. That day, they went out into the yard together, and little Max, symbolically, brought her a mulberry branch.

Max is home. And we are all so touched by this incredible experience. Words truly can’t capture what it felt like.

Now, for some, this story might sound a little far-fetched. But for us, this kind of thing isn’t rare. At Habibi Bears, we make it our mission to truly see every single dog, to understand what brings them joy, and to be the bridge that leads each pup to their ideal home, where they will be truly seen in return.

We believe our Habibi Bear puppies are soul dogs and Anam Caras. Our placement process is intuitive, guided, and personal for every family. And now, we can officially add little Max to our growing catalog of love stories.

Do you have a story about the soul connection between you and your Habibi Bear pup? We’d love to hear it. Your stories mean the world to us. We’re just a message away, and always here, cheering you on.
