Did I ever mention that fall is my favorite time of year? Something about the changing colors, crisp mornings, pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks and the upcoming holidays, really make fall an exciting time for me! I remember when my kids were little and making their Halloween costumes, our yearly Halloween Trick or Treat parties and chili feed at our house. Now they are all grown, but we have our next generation to share these fun festivities with.
While I have a little down time between litters, I have been recouping from a recent injury, and our sweet Grace has been manning the email for me. I am so proud of her, she is really doing a great job! It has made my life a little less hectic to have another hand to help out. Since the announcement of our breed advanement and breed name, we have been swamped. Most of our adoptive famlies are people that have met one of our Habibi Bears or know somewhone with one, and we thank you all for spreading the love! We are truly very blessed with the lovely families we have met over the years. Most if not all, become dear friends. In the past week we have heard from about ten families with Habibi Bears from the past, and one is going to be adopting a new addition in the coming year. It is always fun to re-connect with old friends, see our sweet dogs all grown up. It truly is a blessing to be a part of bringing you and your little furkids together, and that is the reason why we do what we do.
When I established the Family Guardian Program, I wasn't sure if it would really work, and I have found that not only is it successful, but it has brought us closer to our dear friends and family, who are enthusiastically supportive of our little Habibi Bear breeding program. One of the most asked questions I receive is who are our Guardian Homes? Well, most are actually friends and family, but a couple have been referrals, or previous Habibi Families that we have grown to trust and feel comfortable working closely with. This is a huge factor in the selection of our Guardian Homes, as the entire nature of breeding is full of bumps in the road and spontaneity. Sometimes heat cycles are not on time, or way off, so being available at the drop of the hat is helpful. This is also why we like families to be close by, in case we need to come visit and decide if mama is actually in season.....you would be surprised how hard it is to tell sometimes! It is a learning curve, and while our Guardians are learning the ropes, so to speak, it sure helps to have a great relationship with them!
In a previous post last week I had mentioned the exciting news of new additions that will be unveiled in the breeding program----and we are still working on the parent page, new pictures and all that fun stuff. So stay tuned. 2014 is going to mark the best year yet for Habibi Bears. Thank you all for your love, support and most of all, for sharing our sweet little teddy bears with us!
Love and Light~ Julie
