Superstar Pups

We at Habibi Bears are always in awe of the unique and special qualities of our fabulous furry little Habibi Bear puppies. These are the most intuitive, sensitive, and tuned-in little guys and gals that you’d ever have the pleasure of meeting. Their special characters are one of the reasons that we have established HANNAH’S HEART, our wonderfully generous program to gift our miracle pups to deserving families in need.

 Our Pups Are Life-Savers!

Honey, one of Mama Bianca’s girls, who has earned the coveted status of SUPER STAR PUP just last week!

Honey was just four months old when she was matched and joined the family of Mike and Bonnie, our dear friends and now part of the Habibi Bears team.

Their story began when Honey’s original match fell through at the last minute. But as fate would have it, Honey had already chosen her person: Mike, who was working on our home at the time. Their bond was undeniable—and soon Honey found her forever home.

Months later, Honey would become a true Habibi Hero. One night, she awoke in a panic, barking and refusing to settle. She ultimately led her dad through the kitchen—where he discovered the gas stove had been leaking for hours. The emergency crew later confirmed: without Honey’s actions, the family would have perished in their sleep.

Because of Honey’s intuition and devotion, she saved three humans, three cats, and herself.

Today, Honey is thriving in her loving home—and her story reminds us of the extraordinary purpose these puppies carry in the world.

(And it just so happens that her original family also picked their puppy when the timing was right and they are in LOVE with their Moyen Habibi!  Happy endings for all)

The Habibi Bear A new Breed for today's world

Honey’s Story: How One Puppy, One Family, and One Divine Nudge Changed Everything

At Habibi Bears™, we’ve learned not to question the little nudges that life—and our dogs—send our way. Time and time again, we see divine alignments happen with our puppies, and over the years it has become clear that these are not coincidences. Our Habibi Bears are here for a purpose, and when the universe rearranges things at the last minute, I’ve learned to listen.

Honey’s story is one of those moments.

Honey’s future family had been matched and her Gotcha Day was all set. But the night before pickup, tragedy struck her family, forcing them to postpone their adoption at the very last minute. While this kind of sudden change can be unsettling for some breeders, I have come to see it as a necessary realignment—a sign that a new path is being prepared for one of our pups.

That day, Mike—our contractor and friend— was working on a project at our home. I had the puppies outside for playtime, and I kept noticing something special: a deep, mutual connection between Mike and Honey. There was a clear energy exchange between them—one of those things you can feel, but not explain. Honey was just as interested in Mike as he was in her.

When I shared with Mike that Honey’s family had to back out, I also told him:

“I’ve seen the connection between you two. Would you like to bring her home?”

Mike had always wanted a dog, but with a family history of allergies, he wasn’t sure it was possible. After a quick talk with his wife Bonnie, they both said yes—and so began Honey’s new chapter.

Honey joined their family at just four months old. She bonded instantly with her new dad, who lovingly grooms her each night—brushing her coat until it shines. Honey also rides shotgun with her dad everywhere he goes—even to work! This special bond between them became life-saving in ways no one could have imagined.

From Contractor to Family

But Honey’s story doesn’t end there.

Later that year, Mike and Bonnie welcomed a second Habibi Bear—Honey’s sister—and became a guardian home for us. Mike also continued helping us with construction as we began work on the Habibi Bears Enrichment Center.   Not knowing what would happen next, if it weren’t for these two girls, we would have lost our beautiful Standard (larger line) of Habibi Bears if it weren’t for Mike coming into our lives.

Then tragedy struck. We lost our beloved matriarch Bianca to Parvo exposure at a veterinary clinic. What seemed like a routine visit for a simple mastitis infection…literally became MY worst nightmare.  She came home and a few days later was very sick…. I rushed her back to the vet hospital to learn she had been exposed to parvo during her overnight stay the week prior, and unbeknownst to us… I inadvertently exposed my breeding program to parvo.  During that dark time, 15 of our dogs were fighting for their lives. Mike showed up daily, helping me care for them and supporting us through an unimaginable loss. His dedication helped us separate some of the dogs from further exposure and gave me the strength to keep going.

Sadly, we lost 10 precious souls during that time, including my heart dog, Bianca—my Anam Cara, my soul friend. The Enrichment Center was eventually completed, but we were forever changed from the experience.  Our hearts completely gutted.

Mike often says the dogs chose him—and he never left.

Today, Mike is not just our friend—he’s part of our team. He serves as our Habibi Bears Manager and Chief Puppy Snuggler.  Bonnie now helps us in puppy raising our moyen line and an occasional mini for us when needed, and has become an amazing assistant trainer for our puppies in Puppy Charm School.  The dogs adore them both, and I am endlessly grateful for the role they play in our lives and community.

In moments like this, I am reminded why we do what we do. These aren’t just puppies—they are soul companions, sent here with a purpose. And the ways they guide and transform our lives continue to leave me in awe.

Looking back as I tell this story, I can’t help but smile. What an incredible turn of events—all set in motion by an inconvenience of a family backing out of their adoption at the very last minute.   It’s always clear to me that God had other plans.

Sometimes, the most meaningful journeys begin with what first appears to be an unfortunate detour.
