At Habibi Bears, continuing education is part of who we are. Whether it’s something we’ve picked up in a workshop or through decades of hands-on experience, we love sharing what we learn with you—our Habibi Bear Tribe. Maybe it’s our Montessori background, maybe it’s our deep love for dogs, but whatever the reason, we’re committed to helping you raise a happy, well-balanced companion.
Some topics are complex. Others are surprisingly simple. And today, we’re diving into one of those simple truths that’s worth saying out loud:
Dogs are not cats.
We know. It sounds obvious. Maybe even a little silly. But stay with us, because understanding this basic truth can transform your relationship with your dog.

Why Say Something So Obvious?
At a glance, dogs and cats may seem like they belong in the same category. They both have four legs, tails, fur, and make great pets. But their emotional needs, social behavior, and evolutionary backgrounds are very different. Recognizing those differences can make all the difference in how you raise and relate to your Habibi Bear puppy.
Dogs Are Deeply Social
Think back 75 years. Dogs roamed through neighborhoods, played with other dogs, and often slept outside. They formed social groups, bonded with their humans, and lived life in close connection with others. Their lives were shaped by interaction, touch, and trust.
Cats, on the other hand, are more independent by nature. While they do bond with their humans and can be incredibly loving, they do not rely on social interaction in the same way dogs do. This is partly due to their shorter domestication timeline. Dogs have lived alongside humans for an estimated 15,000 to 40,000 years, while cats have only been domesticated for around 10,000 years. That difference has shaped their relationship with people in profound ways.
Dogs Rely on Humans in a Unique Way

Dogs need us. They rely on humans not just for food and shelter but for emotional connection, physical touch, structure, and leadership. They look to us for reassurance, for consistency, and for purpose.
This bond goes far beyond basic care. Dogs thrive when they feel seen, safe, and part of something. They don’t just want to be near us—they need to be in relationship with us.
Why This Matters for Habibi Bear Families
This is exactly why our Habibi Bear puppies are raised differently. From the moment they’re born, our puppies are nurtured to be emotionally connected companions. They are handled daily, raised in a home environment, and carefully guided to build trust with people from the start.
They are not just pets. They are partners, friends, and soul dogs. And they thrive in homes where their need for connection is understood.
If you’re drawn to Habibi Bears, chances are you already get this. You know that dogs are not cats. You understand that your dog sees you as the center of their world, and you’re ready to step into that role with intention and love.
Some of Our Puppies Become Heroes
Some of our puppies, like Titan, Ghost, Ginger, Honey and River, have gone on to save lives. But all of our puppies become heroes in their own way—bringing joy, comfort, and meaning to the lives of those they love. Your dog may not rescue someone from danger, but they will always see you as their hero.
