Where it all Began

Back when most breeders were keeping quiet about their outcrosses, we were boldly experimenting and asking the right questions. Our early DNA research revealed what no one wanted to admit: those stunning merle poodles were not just poodles. They carried Australian Shepherd blood. We weren’t surprised—we were fascinated. This unlocked a new chapter in our teddy bear schnoodle breeding program.

We discovered that the Confetti Schnauzers—bred for rare colors like red, chocolate, merle, and parti—also showed signatures of Maltese, Shih Tzu, and yes, even Cavalier and Coton de Tulear. Instead of seeing that as a flaw, we saw it as a gift: a richer gene pool, more diversity, and better health outcomes for our Uptown Dogs Schnoodles.

A Purpose-Driven Breed, Decades in the Making

Where It All Began

Perfecting this line was never about producing puppies for the sake of sales. I wanted to create something meaningful—something that would truly stand out in a world where many breeders simply aim to sell litters without long-term vision. There’s a significant difference between a backyard breeder and an ethical, purpose-driven program. My focus from the beginning was to develop a dog that could support my students with special needs—a dog that was intuitive, empathic, and deeply connected to the humans in their lives.

With over 36 years of dedicated work, the result is a breed known for its calming presence and extraordinary emotional sensitivity. Our dogs have gone on to serve as therapy dogs, emotional support companions, and trauma recovery partners. Many have become a lifeline for individuals with autism or those navigating difficult emotional journeys. Along the way, I immersed myself in the study of genetics, holistic nutrition, and homeopathy—learning how to support both physical and emotional health through natural methods. The Habibi Bear is more than a breed. It’s a legacy of compassion, healing, and intention.

Setting the Trend for Merle & Mini Schnoodles

We didn’t just join the trend—we started it. While others were hesitant to reveal the breeds behind their “rare” colors, we embraced it. Uptown Dogs Schnoodles helped normalize open dialogue about merle and mini genetics, paving the way for more transparency in the doodle and designer dog world. Our clients appreciated our honesty, and our teddy bear schnoodles spoke for themselves.

Our lines were among the first to regularly produce healthy, colorful, emotionally connected teddy bear schnoodles that captured hearts across the country. With every litter, we’ve continued refining this beautiful mix, always guided by purpose and integrity.

As our breeding program matured, we realized that what we had created was far more than just another Schnoodle. Families with children on the autism spectrum, individuals navigating trauma, and those seeking true emotional support were all finding something profoundly different in our lines.

That’s when the Habibi Bear was born.

The Habibi Bear is the next evolution of our work. Purposefully bred with the same foundational lines as our Uptown Dogs Schnoodles, the Habibi Bear was given its own name and identity to reflect just how unique it is. These dogs are not your average Schnoodle—they’re soulful, hypoallergenic companions developed specifically for therapy, trauma recovery, and intuitive connection. While other Schnoodles may share the name, they do not share the heart.

By blending our most emotionally attuned and gentle lines, we created the Habibi Bear to carry forward the legacy of the original teddy bear schnoodle—but with even more intention, compassion, and purpose.
